Capital High school has had many, many positive happenings, and our academics and athletics continue to excel. These are just a few highlights.
The academic strides being accomplished over the past 6 months speak volumes: the ‘Health
Care Career’ courses that evolved into a partnership with SFCC, allowing up to 12 college
credits; Computer Aided Design and Engineering offering 15 college credits; Media Arts offering an additional 9 college credits available through SFCC as well,
making a total of 36 dual credits for those students interested in starting their college career
early. We are proud of these accomplishments.
Another academic issue is the alignment of curriculum within our Freshmen Academy, better preparing us for our ‘overhauled’ Freshmen Academy for year 2007 – 2008 making ready activation of ‘interdisciplinary’ teaching between our SLC teams.
Our CAPA team continues to succeed among the best statewide, a fact our entire staff is proud to mention. Our Mariachi band received an invite to display their talents in Washington, DC this past December.
Athletics? Our coaching staff received honors for “Coach of the Year” in three categories this past year: Football, Soccer, & Girl’s Basketball. Our best years are ahead for the Athletic program.
Through our new project, “Job Shadowing / Internship,” we have been overwhelmed with the community support given Capital High School. Most have extended a challenge for ‘readying’ our students for the Santa Fe workforce and we are committed to meet that challenge.
