Educational Philosophy and Mission
In this rapidly changing world, we realize that educators cannot simply react to the present; instead we must prepare children to live in the dynamic and unpredictable world of the future. Atalaya Elementary School has created a new vision of education that uses the best methods and processes of existing schools and the most powerful and useful technologies.
Life-long learning is our desired outcome of the schooling process. Atalaya is a learner-centered environment which provides students with access to technologies through and experiential interdisciplinary curriculum. We believe that each student should be given stimulating opportunities to develop to his or her highest potential. We are working to prepare learners to use technologies to set goals for themselves, access resources, and enrich their language development.
We encourage instructors to use various modes of presentation, helping each student to find his or her own strengths. Student activities range from independent assignments to collaborative teaming projects. Teachers at Atalaya prepare the learning environment to meet the individual needs of all learners and collaboratively develop student Personal Growth Plans to actualize student performance. We provide diverse methods and tools to promote student success.
